zipper was tired of sitting around and having nothing to do, and apparently her rat was, as well. the satin rat had been crawling all over zipper's books for the past hour, making it impossible to read. but the little white and tan rat was too adorable to be mad at. "nebby, come on. mommy has to finish this chapter by tomorrow. we can play in a little bit." but the rat just wasn't having it, apparently. finally, zipper sighed and gave in to the girl's demand to go running down the hall. she left all of her books sprawled out on her bed and chased after nebula around the dormitory a bit before heading out the door and down the corridor to enter the common room. most of the ravenclaws were off at the library, checking out books of just looking for more quiet than the common room provided. zipper on the other hand prefered to study in her bed, where she was most comfortable and surrounded by things that reminded her of her two homes.

she had things from parents on two different continents: canada and england. her parents divorced before she could even remember, but they told her it was not long after her second birthday. her mother stayed in england for a few years, then moved to canada and became a beautician. zipper had spent years hopping on holidays to see her mother, who had gotten her obsessed with piercings and hair styles. now, on breaks from hogwarts she would alternate which parent she flew to see or she would just hang out at the school if she wasn't feeling well enough to travel.

where the small-ish rat was running to, zipper had no idea. that is, until she realized that nebula had crawled up the pant leg of a familiar face. "oh god, i'm so sorry, xavier!" the laugh that fell from her pierced lips was impossible to hold in. her satin rat had curled into a ball in the boy's lap, worn out from all of the running. "i guess nebby decided it's nap time." a little out of breath herself, zipper sat down next to xavier in front of the fire and looked around the common room. it was eerily empty, only a couple other people in the room. weird. zipper shrugged to herself and looked at her rat, still in xavier's lap. "i could move her, if you'd like me to," she offered with a smile. "but, anyway, how've you been? meet any interesting girls recently?" not that zipper really wanted to know about xavier's love life, she would ask anyway. she never understood why he went around flirting with any girl but her. i'm probably just not his type. and that's just fine, because he's not mine, either. the boy sticks around girls about as long as the life of a fly. zipper made herself comfortable, pushing some of her now black hair out of her eye so she could see clearly.

If it was me and you against the world, I'd protect you with all I had. If it was just me and you, I'd take your hand and never let you go.

Upon writing those words down on the piece of parchment infront of him, Xavier looked over towards the window and looked at the sky. It was a beautiful day, yet the male didn't wish to venture outside. Not after his encounter with Abigail the day previous. Instead, the male opted to remain indoors and read. Well, more-so study than read. Yet one thing made that task almost completely impossible. Nyat. The small, white ferret had climbed over the male's shoulders and ran down his arms to nibble at the end of the quill which he had tried to write with. Xavier tried many times to move the young animal back into her cage, yet she was determined to play.

"You really don't want me to do anything but play with you, do you?" Xavier had finally said, dropping the quill and turning his chair to face the cage. "Alright, but only because you're my one and only girl." Getting the ferret out of her cage, Xavier placed her on his bed and began to dangle his fingers above her body. Nyat enjoyed this more than running around or anything else - she was still young, thus anything that moved amused her. She squirmed and wriggled as Xavier dangled his hand and moved his fingers across her face. Soon, she had nearly passed out of exhaustion and the young male moved her back into her cage. Nyat was one of those animals that didn't enjoy many human's company. Infact, she only enjoyed Xavier, Alice, and Tzipora. Xavier had tried to get her to like the other boys in the Ravenclaw Dorm, but she had none of it. That was why she had to be placed within the bars of her cage.

Standing up, Xavier wrapped a large, black cloak around his body and moved out of the dorm with a book tucked neatly underneath his left arm. In a matter of minutes he had found himself in the Common Room, sitting by the fire and his eyes beginning to scan the words which had placed themselves on the pages. Hidden within the pages was the note scribbled on a piece of parchment. He didn't have anyone in mind to send it to, instead he just had written it down in case of an emergency.

After awhile, Xavier felt something run up his pant leg and then rest upon his lap. Looking down, he noticed a small fluff ball and he shook his head. Zipper must be around... Upon hearing the young woman's voice, the male moved his gaze and offered his friend a small smile. She was the only female whom he could call an actual friend. As well as this, she was the only female that he had never been able to flirt with. It confused him, but he just... Didn't want to hurt her. He saw what hurt looked like on her face, and he didn't want to be the one to cause such pain to her. "You know I know that once she settles, she doesn't want to be moved. Besides, it's fine." Closing the book, Xavier placed it beside him and watched as Tzipora sat next to him.

"And as for your question, sadly no. But it's only ten-thirty."

tzipora everent was the farthest thing from one of the easy girls at hogwarts. she had only had one boyfriend in her six years there, and they had dated all of fourth year and most of fifth before breaking up. to her surprise, she had ended up crying to xavier when it happened, because most of the ravenclaw girls didn't want much to do with her, and he had been in the common room at the time. everyone was surprised that her and the slytherin boy had even lasted that long, but that's because they hadn't known him like she did. they had spent the summer between fourth and fifth year together, and she thought that things were going perfectly for them. that is, until halfway through fifth year when chad decided he wanted to see other people. his excuse had been that they were just too young to be settling down in one relationship, but everyone knew he just wanted to sleep with other girls. so, zipper had walked away crying and headed into the ravenclaw common room to find xavier. "xavier.." was all she had managed to get out of her mouth before her tears exploded and she practically curled up in his lap crying.

that was the day that she liked to consider a turning point in her and xavier's friendship. they had never been particularly close, yet he had been the one she went to when she was hurt. she wondered sometimes if that day was why xavier had never flirted with her; because he knew just how easily she could break. she was normally so bubbly and happy, and zipper wondered how she had let someone hurt her so badly. that's why she hadn't dated anyone since the incident, and why she refused to turn into one of the girls that just slept around. she had morals, and a bad breakup wasn't going to change them.

zipper focused more on the situation at hand, putting chad back into the back of her mind, where he probably always would be. she bobbed her head slightly in a nod, knowing that xavier was right. "that's true.. alright, fine. spoiled little rat." she laughed lightly. nebby loved most people, but the only people she had ever curled up in their lap to sleep in was her own and xavier's. otherwise the fluffly satin rat would be watching to make sure nobody hurt her, or no cats tried to chase her down, which had happened on more than one occasion. zipper raised an eyebrow. "only ten thirty? are you mad? you could have gotten met like five girls within the time you got out of class and now! but now you're stuck with me, oh well." with a shrug, zipper's attempt to hold back her smile failed and she beamed from ear to ear practically. she played with her angel kiss piercings, which were her new favorite toy. her mother had payed for her to get the two top lip piercings on either side of her mouth on her last visit, and her dad still had no idea about them. she loved them to pieces, though, just like every other piercing she had had thus far.

Looking down at the fluff-ball in his lap, Xavier couldn't help but smile. Upon returning his gaze towards Zipper, the male tilted his head to the side and chuckled when she spoke about being stuck with her. "I wouldn't say 'stuck', my dear Tzipora. 'Would rather be with than chasing after girls because I'm too tired and simply don't care right now' would be the preffered statement." As he spoke, he placed his comic, fake popmus accent on and lifted his nose into the air. "Besides, who would want to hang out with any other girl when you're in the room?" This was the side of Xavier which no girl had experienced, besides Tzipora. His actual charming side. It wasn't to gain anything of his benefit, nor to give her false hope. Instead, it was him being genuine and saying facts that simply spilled from his mouth. Others had said he only had one personality - flirty. Yet Xavier knew that he reserved this one side of his personality for that someone special... And Zips.

Which then got him to thinking... Why couldn't he flirt with Tzipora and break up with her like he had done so many other times to many other students? Before now, he had put it down to the fact that he didn't want to see her broken like the time with the Slytherin boy - which he had gone after and had a 'rather stern talking to' after taking Tzipora back up to the girls dorm - yet now, there was something else stopping him. Something else made it so he just simply couldn't bare to hurt the girl. It wasn't like he had feelings for her... No, that wasn't it. But there was something else that tugged on his heart-strings whenever the two were close together or even far apart. Shaking his head at the different ideas that swirled around him, Xavier looked back towards Zipper and smiled.

"Besides, why are you here? I thought you would have preffered to study in your room... Or did Nebby want to play?" Tracing his fingers over the rat's fur, Xavier moved his gaze over towards the book which held the small piece of parchment inside. It didn't hit him until he was about to place the parchemt into the flames that he finally had someone to give it to. Tzipora. But now wasn't the right time. First, he had to figure out how the hell his mind was working, especially with wanting to be closer than friends with the girl.

out of anyone else's mouth, zipper hated her first name. tzipora was just, weird. she prefered when people called her zipper, or zips, or anything but tzipora. but for whatever reason, when it came from xavier, it really didn't sound all that bad. she had seen him flirt with girls, and it wasn't the way that he was with her. his charm seemed sincere when the two of them were together. zipper liked that xavier actually genuinely liked being around her. it was nice, really. she smiled at his comment. "you're sweet." it was simple, but to zipper, it was true. "why are you always so sweet to me, anyhow?" she spoke out, truly curious. she had never really understood it, but zipper had never questioned it before. now, she just wanted to know.

zipper scratched between nebby's eyes gently before pulling her legs up under her to sit cross-legged. she placed her hands on her ankles, holding her legs in place and rocking back and forth a bit in her spot. she had always had a problem sitting still, but that was just how zipper was. the only time she could sit still was if she was truly focused on her studies. "well, i was studying until nebby decided to crawl all over everything until i closed my book." zipper rolled her eyes and laughed. "i swear, that rat gets everything she wants, but she's just so cute.." shaking her head, zipper's straight black hair swayed around her. she let go of her ankles and pulled all of her hair up to the middle of her hair, twisting a pony tail holder around it to create a loose, sloppy bun to keep all but her bangs out of the way. she loved her hair, but it annoyed her sometimes.

she looked around xavier to the book he had placed next to him, noticing he had looked over at it. "what're you reading?" she asked, reaching for the book. she turned it around in her hands, looking at the cover at all different angles. zips waited for xavier's response, not wanting to open it if it was just going to be a boring book or textbook of sorts. she liked to flip through books, just to see what kinds of wonders she could find inside of them. she had gone on explorations through the restricted section in the library more than a few times and found some insane books. books that screamed, books that appeared to be empty unless you cast a spell on them, books that spoke of unspeakable things.. all sorts of mysteries and she wanted to uncover them all. that is, until her attention span failed and she moved onto the next interesting looking book before figuring out just what she had been looking for.

"Because you are the only one who truly deserves it." Offering Zipper a small smile, Xavier moved his gaze back towards the fire and thought of what he had just realised. Was his mind simply playing tricks on him, or had he actually just discovered he had feelings for this loopy-minded friend of his? Turning his gaze back to her eyes once more, the male got lost in the deep chocolate coloured pools that were her eyes and he smiled inwardly to himself. The latter thought. That was definatly the real reason for his mind beginning to grow attatched the Tzipora. He had grown feelings for his only female friend.

But then, how would he have gone about telling her? It wasn't like he would flirt with her the same way he did with other girls. No, he had to do something better. Something... Charming. Something that he had never done before, for a girl. But what? The only option he could think of, was to horrible to describe. If his first plan had failed, he would have to do the un-speakable. The only thing that Xavier didn't want to do in order to succeed in life. He would have to ask Mason for help.

Peering back down at the rat, Xavier smiled and then looked towards the book which had found it's way into Zipper's hands. "Oh, it's nothing... nothing at all." Moving his hand slightly, the young male pulled at the piece of parchment that stuck out of the back pages and read it once before tucking it into his jacket pocket. Hopefully the other wouldn't have seen what he just did; he didn't want to explain that the note was actually for her. But then... What else could he do? Maybe... Maybe when the two of them had gone their seperate ways at the end of the night, Xavier would slip it under the girl's dorm and just hope and pray that she was the one to get it. "You're welcome to read it if you'd like."

zipper had always had a soft spot for xavier's sweet words, and she would be lying if she said she didn't think he was cute. but that dream had always seemed like it would never be more than that: a dream. she had never once seen him in a real, serious relationship, and she didn't even know if he was capable of it. that's what scared her the most about him, and why she had never said anything about liking him. instead, she just took the compliments and threw them back as if it was nothing. but there had never been any true flirting between the two. just kind words and soft blushes. but she had never, in her years of knowing xavier, told a single soul just how she felt about him. instead, she listened to other girls talk about dating him and then walked out of the conversation before it was over with nebby or studying at an excuse. "oh, well thanks."

the fact that xavier had said that the book was nothing just intrigued her even more. "oh it can't be nothing!" her energy was back, and in full force. she noticed xavier pull a small piece of parchment from the book and into his pocket and she raised her eyebrow, whole body stopping what it was doing. "what's that? can i see?" she didn't even wait for an answer before reaching to dig into his pocket to grab it. "ooh, it's a note!" she didn't read it, but zipper knew a note when she saw it. "who's it for? someone speeecial?" she beamed from ear to ear, though on the inside she was aching at the thought of xavier giving a note to another girl.

still not reading it, she folded it into an origami heart and stuck it into her bun in her hair so that it looked like a hair clip. she had always had a knack for origami, and many times her parchments covered in notes would end up looking like swans or hearts or anything of the sort. zipper giggled and hopped to her feet. "i wanna dance. will you dance with me, xav?" she looked at nebby and rolled her eyes at the rat who was staring at her like 'don't you dare steal my pillow.' she didn't care about the rat's look, though. zipper wanted to dance, but more so she wanted to read what the note said. before xavier could respond, she pulled the parchment from her hair and unfolded it, curiosity pushing her to do so, and she looked down at the words. she stopped bouncing and stared down at it, reading it over a few times. "this is.. wow, it's beautiful.."

Xavier's heart had almost literally stopped beating as he heard Tzipora's words about the note then witnessed her remove the parchment from his pocket. "No, I mean... Yes, but it's not ready yet." The male flustered around with his words as he tried to take the piece of parchment back. However within moments, it had been turned into a heart and placed into Zipper's hair. He couldn't ask for it back. Not now. Not after it looked so beautifully positioned in her hair. "Now clearly I can't give it to them." Laughing a little, Xavier was relieved that she hadn't read it, and instead opted to turn it into an origami heart. But then... What would have happened if she were to open it upon getting back into her dorm? Different thoughts and emotions began to swarm around Xavier's mind as his gaze moved from the rat, to Tzipora, to the fire then back at the young woman infront of him.

Her words, however, pulled him out of his small trance and a laugh slid off his lips as she stood and asked if he wanted to dance. "You know I'd love to dance with you, but I don't think Nebby would enjoy that all too mu-" His words paused mid-sentence with his mouth hanging open as his eyes witnessed something horrible. Zipper had taken the heart and opened it back up again, and was now reading the parchment. "I told you, it's not finished... That's just the first draft..." A large blush spread across Xavier's cheeks as he heard the girl talk about how it was beautiful. Reaching his hand out to take it back, the young male realised a way to give it to her without actually giving it to her. "Actually... You can keep it." A small smile spread across his lips as he stood and placed Nebby on the sofa.

"But, I must get back to studying. Please excuse me." Bowing his head slightly the way he would always do when leaving Zipper, Xavier practically ran up the stairs towards the boys dorm and leaned against the door once it had closed behind him. "Smooth Zavi. How did you think that was going to play out? Her to just fall into your arms and..." Suddenly, an idea came to his mind. Removing himself from the room, Xavier walked down the stairs and stood in the archway that connected the stairs to the common room. Tzipora was now the only girl in the common room and he smiled as he leaned against the wall. "Actually, it's for you."

asking who it was for, or even how it wasn't ready, was the last thing on zipper's mind. she didn't need to know who she had to be jealous of this time, because she would find out soon enough anyway. she had no reason to be possessive of xavier, and she knew that, but she couldn't help it sometimes. one time she had gone up to a girl crying in the ravenclaw dorms about her breakup with xavier and actually laughed at the girl saying she didn't see where the breakup came from because they really connected. "you're crazy if you say you know xav, but don't see why he dumped you. you're a psychopath." and with that, she had walked away with nebby on her shoulder and headed off towards the library. the girl had just stopped and stared at her before bursting into even more tears. now that she thought back on it, it was a pretty harsh thing to say. but really, zips knew that she was the only girl that xavier was truly close with other than his sister, so it just annoyed her when other girls acted like they knew him after dating him for a week.

she wanted to say it was a good thing that xavier couldn't give the note to the other girl, but she didn't. instead, her bubbly side came out to play as she bounced around in place. but when xavier said it was just a first draft, she rolled her eyes and laughed lightly. "first draft? oh please, this is like a masterpiece. it only needs one draft! whoever you wrote this for is one lucky lady." though there was a slight pang of jealousy in her voice at saying 'lucky lady'. before she knew it, xavier was gone. she was still just standing there in shock, staring at the letter as he left. she sat down and nebula crawled into her lap and looked up at her with her little eyes, curious as to why xavier disturbed her peace. "what the bloody hell was that about, nebs?" she shook her head slightly.

xavier's familiar voice rang through the silence of the common room, shocking her. she furrowed her eyebrows and looked from the note to xavier. "it's.. what?" she put nebby on her shoulder and stood up, sincerely confused. "don't kid around, xav.. that's not funny.." her voice showed that she was a bit hurt, because she really did think he was just kidding. he couldn't possibly like her, he had placed her in the friend zone long ago. her life was no fairytale, and she didn't expect to ever get pulled out of the friend zone, so where was this even coming from? she pushed her black bangs out of her eyes and bit down on her lip, looking at the ground.

Although Xavier knew that Tzipora would think he was only pretending - or worse, finally realised a way to flirt with her - the young male knew he had to try. He had to try and get these feelings out. He had felt them for awhile now, yet had only just realised what they were actually saying to him. Whenever he would turn away from Zipper's face, another twang of hurt would appear. He had originally put it down to others girls, and thus had gone after them. Never in a million years had he thought these feelings would actually be directed towards his - for lack of a better word - best friend.

As she spoke about him kidding around, Xavier had shaken his head and a small sigh slipped from his lips. She was beautiful, intelligent, yet she didn't understand when he was kidding and not kidding. Usually, Xavier would have waltzed right over to the girl he was trying to impress and simply flirt away. That would usually take less than an hour of talking and the girl would almost literally fall into his arms. The two would then date for at the most, a week, before his mind got bored and wandered to another. Yet, this was different. He couldn't use his tricks on Zipper. Not only did she know them all, but he didn't feel they were right for her. She deserved something better. Something grand, and unique. Thus, the male knew he had to ask someone to help him. He would have to ask Mason - well, Alice to ask Mason - if the piece of parchment didn't do the trick... And by the looks of things, it wasn't working.

"I'm not joking. It's for you. I first wrote it without not knowing who I was going to give it to... But standing here, looking at you in the light of the fire, I realised it's for you." Slowly making his way over towards the young woman, Xavier placed a smile on his face and stopped just a few steps infront of her.

Please don't think I'm just flirting... Please don't run away...

everyone in hogwarts knew that tzipora everent had feelings for xavier. she would be stupid not to, truthfully. she found all of the other girls stupid for having feelings for him, because she knew all of the tricks he played on them. she knew his short attention span when it came to dating, and that's why she had snapped on one of the girls who cried over him. they hadn't even been together a week and she was crying over him, and zips had just wanted to slap her and tell her to move on with life already. most of the girls at hogwarts glared at zipper, didn't even give her a chance, because of the fact that she was closer to xavier than any of them. they all figured that she was stuck in the friendzone, though, so nobody saw her as a threat with her odd piercings and insane hair colors. she was just the odd girl that xavier hung out with, probably for pity.

that was exactly why tzipora couldn't wrap her head around the fact that the letter, the beautiful letter, was for her of all people. it wasn't like she had problems with her self-esteem, she just had always figured xav thought of her the same way that everyone else did. even with his charming words, she never imagined that he could have any sorts of feelings for her more than a friend to hang out with when everyone else disappeared at night. she had imagined what it would be like to kiss him many times, but it had always seemed like it would be just that. a figment of her imagination, with the rest of her odd imaginary visions for her life. but never in a million years had she thought that xavier mournet would write such a beautiful thing for her.

zipper noticed his shoes now in her vision as she stared at the ground. she lifted a hand and held her bangs out of her face for a moment, scratching her head. "i don't.. i don't get it." and instantly, zipper felt like just another one of the idiot girls that xavier dated. confused and toyed with. "why, though? why me? you've never shown any interest in me. you've known how i've felt about you for years and you just.. blew me off. i'm just "the odd girl that xavier hangs out with for pity." i'm not girlfriend material. i'm not some girl you can date for a week and get over. i can't be.. i know you too well to be. if you're playing me.." zip shook her head, letting her bangs drop back into place and finally looking up to his face, tears welling in her eyes. she hadn't wanted to get emotional, but there she was. "i like you, xav. the real you, not the one that hops from girl to girl on a weekly basis. i just don't.. trust you. i want to, i really do. i just know you too well.." and in saying that, a tear slid down tzipora's cheek. she wanted to jump into his arms and smile and tell him she had waited so long for this day, but how was she supposed to trust he wouldn't leave her in a week? "if you can prove i can trust you, i'll believe the letter really is for me." she folded it back into a heart and stuffed it into her pocket.

As Xavier stood there, he listened to every word that escaped Zipper's mouth, carefully. He didn't want to misunderstand or miss a single word that was formed. Thus, he remained perfectly still and cross his arms over his chest. However he couldn't remain silent when she spoke about how he only hung out with her for pity. Raising his hand, Xavier moved to stand infront of Tzipora and shook his head. "You know I don't hang out with you for pity. You know you are... Like my best friend. You're the only girl that actually knows me. And you know that I can't simply flirt with you. I tried to do it when I first met you, but since then we've grown closer than before. And you know all my tricks, so why would I even try that?"

His eyebrows furrowed together as the young male wondered how he would try and convince Zipper otherwise. Running a hand through his hair, Xavier sighed and pointed towards the note. "You're the first girl I've written a note for. I just didn't have any passion or feelings to write down words before now. And I didn't know who they were for, first off. But now I do. Re-reading the piece of parchment, I know it's for you." It was true. Before now, Xavier had never been able to write down a single word for any girl he had dated. He just didn't feel that it was the right thing to do. To him, words meant a whole lot more than actions. Sure, you could perform an act that showed someone that you cared; but writing it down in words that would lift their frown into a smile and let their heart flutter around their chest was something different, special. That was why he knew the words were for Tzipora. Why he knew that she was the one he had feelings for.

"How can I prove it? You know all my tricks." Yes, Xavier knew that he was simply repeating himself, but he didn't understand exactly how he was to prove to Zipper that the words were for her and no-one else. He didn't understand how Mason was able to charm all the girls and gain their trust then they were the one to break up with him rather than he break up with them. Yes, Xavier had known that the girls broke up with Mason, yet he still didn't like him. zipper wanted, more than anything, to just step forward and wrap her arms around xavier, kiss him like she had wanted to since they met, and tell him that she could trust he wouldn't just get bored with her. yes, she knew all of his tricks. she knew that he had never once written a note for a girl. written words were evidence, they meant so much more than just saying something or doing something like kissing someone. zipper was an affectionate person. touching people was how she showed them what they meant to her. a hug for friends, playful nudges, gentle kisses on the forehead if she loved them. but letters, or even notes, were saved for those dear to her. if she wanted someone to have a reminder each and every day of how she felt of them, it belonged on a piece of parchment sitting on their nightstand for them to see right before they went to bed each night and right when they woke up each morning.

she was so confused and just didn't even know what to do. "i don't.. i don't know.." she shook her head, eyebrows practically shoved together in frustration. her mind was the worst place to be in that moment. damnit, zipper. this is your shot. he likes you, just go for it! she scratched at her arm, but quickly stopped as her fake nails ran over a couple of scars. nervous scratching had been a habit since she was younger, and it had lead to her cutting herself when her big breakup had happened. she had never told anyone about it, but she knew that xavier had noticed the scars. she couldn't get any words out as her eyes scanned the ground in all directions as if it was going to have the answer. her mind was racing at a million miles an hour and she couldn't contain it.

when she finally got herself able to speak, she looked up at xavier, fear in her large hazel eyes. "how do i know that you're not just going to stop liking me in a week when or if you get bored? i'm clingy, xav. i'm a handful, i'm not just one of your bimbo ex girlfriends that would be over a breakup in a day or two because she could find any guy she wants. because there is no other guy." she shook her head lightly, confidence growing back up slowly. "you're it, xav." she felt her balance a little off, her body shaking nervously. cautiously, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his torso, hiding her face against his chest. "i'm scared." her voice was barely above a whisper, ear against his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

Xavier didn't know what to do. Tzipora had always been there for him whenever he needed her, and he was always there for her when she needed him. However at that exact moment, the young male didn't think he could be all there for her. He wanted to wrap his arms around her and hold her close; whispering that it was all going to be okay. But he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Although he knew that his feelings were true, and that he wasn't going to get bored with her any time in the near or distance future, Xavier just couldn't bring himself to try. He didn't want to try and fail then break her heart. He just couldn't.

However when he felt her arms wrap around his torso, the male sighed slightly and wrapped his own arms around her. That one moment, that single moment, was when he knew. He knew that that moment had to last forever. Xavier felt complete. Whole. Like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders all because of Tzipora. Leaning down, he placed a small kiss on her forehead and lifted her chin so he could stare into her amazing eyes. "I know you are. And I don't pretend that I'm not either. I don't want to try and fail, only to break your heart. I couldn't do that to you, Zipper. But please, tell me how I can prove to you that all of this is real."

out of all of the time that zipper and xavier had been friends, she had never really hugged him like she was in that moment. like if she left go, everything would crumble into a million pieces. it was as if he was holding her body together with his arms and that scared the crap out of her, but it was comforting all the same. the moment felt as if the second it ended, she would wake up and this would all have been some crazy dream caused by too much caffeine before bed or sleepwalking to the kitchen to snag some snacks, or something of the sort. zipper didn't know how to guarantee anything when it came to love, or even a crush, because there was no way to guarantee it. people changed constantly, especially with the age group that went through hogwarts. that was why zipper focused on the here and now usually, and not far off into the future like what parent she would visit for whatever holiday was coming up when.

the kiss that xavier placed on her forehead is what told her that she should just go all in, not worry about the aftermath. it would always be there, a fear that if she lost him as a love she would lose him as a friend, but what was the point of living if you weren't going to take risks? her mother had once told her that the biggest risk in her life would be one that she wouldn't take, and that was exactly why zipper usually took any risk thrown her way. she was a big girl, she could handle it. her eyes searched xavier's for some sort of answer, and what she found in them was just that. he really was scared, just like she was, but she could tell he was telling the truth. she would have known that from the beginning had she stopped staring at the floor long enough to look into his eyes for more than a second or two. the only way that she could think of for him to prove that it was real that didn't involve him promising something that she didn't know if he could keep or not was a simple action. "kiss me." she had heard that when you kiss someone the truth comes out in how they do it. it wasn't like zipper hadn't seen xav kiss other girls, it had just never been her. it was her turn, though. and if it was real, it wouldn't be like every other girl he had kissed, or like the other boys she had kissed. no, it would be much more.
