YOU’RE A GOLDMINE BREAKING THROUGH THE CLOUDS LIKE SUNSHINE AND I'M BETTING ON YOU AND I breaking up had always come easily for carter. he dated around a lot, and usually it only lasted for a couple weeks tops, but somehow tears were usually involved. he didn't understand how girls thought they loved him after that short of a time, when he never really gave them any reason other to. then again, he did sleep with quite a few of them and that tended to make them think he was in love with them. carter scratched the back of his neck as the girl in front of him cried and asked why he didn't want to stay with her. "it's not you, really. i'm just not ready for anything serious, ella." he looked at the clock on the wall. "i really am sorry. but i have to get going now." he looked over his shoulder as he walked away to see a rush of girls surround the sixth year girl.
carter rolled his eyes and walked away, heading towards hogsmeade. he had plans on chugging down a bunch of butterbeers until he was ready to stumble back to bed. as he walked over the crunching leaves, carter smiled at a few girls who were staring at him. "hello, ladies," he said to them, nodding his head flirtatiously. however, he didn't go over to them. he always waited at least a day before looking for a new girl, mostly because things spread around hogwarts faster than anywhere else. car walked into the pub and ordered two butterbeers, heading to a table and sitting by himself. the second butterbeer sat next to him, and he felt a pang of lonliness. carter never did anything by himself, this was weird. he didn't like it one bit.

[/style][style=width:400; height:25; font-size: 8px; color:ffffff; margin-top: -15px; line-height: 10px;] lucy diamond had never been in a relationship. she'd kissed, hooked up at parties, but had never gone any further. no one knew why, and in all honesty, lou liked it that way. she didn't have anything against relationships, or the people who were interested in her, but for some reason the girl couldn't imagine herself being committed to any one particular person. while other girls her age dreamed of falling in love and finding their dream partners, lou had always had big plans to travel the world. she wanted to fall in love with the bridges in venice, she wanted to be infatuated with the new york skyline, and most of all, she wanted to have a wild romance with the endless deserts in egypt. it was unusual, especially for a hormonal seventeen-year-old girl, but lou just didn't care. instead of connections to people, she had connections to places all around the globe.
like most free afternoons she had, lou was browsing the small travel shop in hogsmeade. every week, the store seemed to have bigger, better travel books, and maps that uncovered dozens of different magical wonders around the world. just being near the brand-new pages was like taking one of her purple microdot pills - it was the best high in the world. at that moment, she was immersed in a new copy of her favourite travel companion, lonely planet, eyes dancing from word to word as she skimmed through the historical landmark section. leaning against the window frame, she looked up from the page long enough to see carter bryant passing by, a determined look on his face. with a small smile, lou snapped the book closed and carefully replaced it on the shelf before ducking out into the chilly fall air to follow him.
as she stepped into the hog's head just paces behind him, lou offered a friendly wave to the few students in her grade that she recognized. "carter, baby..." she sang, slipping into the booth beside him. "how's your horny little heart?" like any best friend, the girl could recognize the look on his face from a mile away, and it was easy to tell that he'd just cut another love-sick girlfriend loose. grabbing the extra butterbeer without bothering to ask who it was for, lou brought it to her mouth and gulped it down until she had a prominent foam-moustache on her upper lip. he could have been meeting someone, but lou didn't care. greetings and manners were hardly necessary at this stage in their friendship. or at least, she didn't think so.

YOU’RE A GOLDMINE BREAKING THROUGH THE CLOUDS LIKE SUNSHINE AND I'M BETTING ON YOU AND I carter bryant had not been single for more than a day since second year when he started dating. he watched his older brother work his magic on girls, and learned from that on how to keep himself from being single. being single meant being alone, which meant a possibility of lonliness. that's why carter had plans on having a different girl everywhere he traveled, or bringing a pet or something. apollo always nagged him about appreciating what he had, and carter's usual response was along the lines of, "i do. i appreciate each and every one of the girls in my life.." with a wink. he didn't take it seriously, though he knew he should. his brother had lost his first serious girlfriend, and that's what scared carter even more about commitment.
there were only six people in carter's life that he could ever be considered "committed to." those people were his parents, his siblings, and his two best friends. lou was the only girl carter had ever really considered himself friends with besides his little sister, raelin, who really didn't count in his opinion. before long, the familiar american accent of just the girl on his mind appeared. he dramatically grabbed his chest as if he was having a heart-attack before grabbing his butterbeer and taking a swig. "my heart is just aching so badly right now, lou. i mean.. ella really thought i was the one." he laughed softly and rolled his eyes, chugging down the rest of his drink. "lou.." he started, more serious. "i.. i moustache you a question." he licked his butterbeer moustache from his lipline before continuing. "but i'll shave it for later." he laughed and looked over towards the bar. "can we get four more butterbeers over here?" he called to one of the workers.
"you get lost in some new books again today?" carter asked, raising an eyebrow. when the butterbeers were placed in front of them, he rubbed his hands together a bit. "ahh, perfect timing." he started to down another one. the drink had hardly any alcohol in it, and if he wanted to have a buzz worked up before heading back, he was going to have to work quickly with what he got. he was no lightweight after having chugged down alcohol or finding some sort of adrenaline rush after every breakup he'd ever gone through. the kid was insane, there was no denying it.
