[style=width:400px; height:200px; background:url(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8kap3zEKm1rsl2pso2_500.jpg);] studying was all that nicole knew it seemed. she had friends, but not many. usually she was just stuck in the ravenclaw common room or in the library with a book or ten sprawled out in front of her in an organized mess. her ocd told her to keep everything straight, but going through book after book to find what to put into an essay that wasn't even due for another week. while most of the other girls in her grade were focused on dating or having fun, not doing as much work, nicole went above and beyond to get her work finished. it was already a month into school and nicole had spent what seemed like every waking moment with her nose in the books, or sleeping and having nightmares about it. the only breaks she took was to eat or go to the bathroom, and even that was rare.
nikki slammed her head down onto the table she was at in the library and sighed heavily. she had spent the last hour reading the same paragraph, trying to think of how to answer the question she had to answer. she had writer's block on her essay, but she really didn't have anything else to do but stare at the textbooks sprawled out in front of her. sometimes she wished her confidence wasn't just false, and that she had the courage to go and try to find someone to keep her company. when she picked her head up, she saw a few people staring at her and she smiled apologetically before looking back at her books. she slammed three of the four of them shut, staring down at the very last one blankly. "why do you do this to yourself, nicole?" she sighed again, quieter this time, and closed her eyes. [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true][style=background-image:url(http://i45.tinypic.com/2vvrs60.gif); width: 400px; height: 200px; margin-right:8px;] Nicholas drummed his fingers against the spines of the books. He was supposed to be studying and he knew it. He had a couple essays to write and some other random things he needed to look up for potions. He’d never been all that great at potions so he was constantly looking up how to do something when it came to them. Luckily though since he was a ravenclaw there was generally someone around that he could ask for help on the subject and they generally had the answer. It was a major plus to being a slacker, his house that was. He let his eyes linger on a few of the titles as he walked past them before he gave up. He knew that he wasn’t actually going to find anything that caught his interest today if it involved studying.
A thump sounded back toward the study tables and he rose his brows, peaking from around the edge of the shelf to see Nicole picking her head up and apologizing. He snickered and walked toward her table, deciding that since he wasn’t going to get anything done and it didn’t look like she was either, he might as well keep her company. Nicholas slid onto the table top right beside her and leaned down so she could hear him whisper without disturbing the other students. He didn’t always care but something about being a Ravenclaw made him behave, at least for a little while when he was in the library. “Because you need to get out more.” He grinned broadly and leaned back, staring at her. “That and you really have no life.” He gave a tiny chuckle to show her that he was only giving her crap but he really never saw her doing anything but studying. It was sort of depressing to him. [/style] |

[style=width:400px; height:200px; background:url(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8kap3zEKm1rsl2pso2_500.jpg);] the nagging feeling of disappointing her parents by not finishing her work right then and there was already starting to pick up in the back of her mind. nicole had set too high of expectations for herself since she had been little, and sometimes she regretted not being a little more like thalia and setting lower standards. but then she remembered that she would probably be considered a disappointment, though she knew her parents weren't pushy in any way. it was true when people said "you are your worst critic" and nicole was walking proof of that. nobody put her down like she did herself, and she was sure that nobody ever would be able to, because nobody knew just how hard she was on herself.
nicole look over at nicholas, shocked. she tended to avoid him, though he was in her house, mostly because she tended to avoid most people if they would risk keeping her away from getting her work done. she furrowed her eyebrows together at his second comment, shrugging. she knew he was smiling, but it was completely true. she unfurrowed her brows and smiled lightly, shrugging. "i really don't. s'my own fault, though. i never really can get myself to do anything until i get my work done, and then more work gets added on." she normally tried to avoid talking about it, but even saying it, she realized how much of a twat she probably sounded like. then again, she probably just sounded like the stereotypical ravenclaw who never got into trouble because she did nothing but work. [atrb=border,0,true][style=background-image:url(http://i45.tinypic.com/2vvrs60.gif); width: 400px; height: 200px; margin-right:8px;] Nicholas shook his head at Nicole. He had always wanted to spend more time with her. Why? Because she was absolutely gorgeous. But he never bothered because she always had her head stuck in a book. He had considered dragging her along when him and annie went to do stuff or even when him and zipper went on one of their crazy runs. But he was utterly horrified of the fact that she knew her stuff and probably to curse him to the ends of the world without batting an eyelash at that kind of knowledge. The girl probably didn’t even realize the kind of power that she had.
“You know….things like breaks do exist for a reason. You’re missing out on the fun of life.” Nicholas reached forward and brushed her hair back from her face, a smile on his lips. SO he could be charming if he thought the girl was pretty enough. It was what got him into trouble the most with women. He couldn’t follow through with the things that all of his words promised. “Why don’t you come out with me? Get a break from all of this.” Nicholas looked at the book that was still open in front of her. He reached over and flipped it closed, pushing the pile of books further away from her. He pulled one foot up, wrapping his arms around his knee as he look at her, his shoe planted firmly on the library desk. He was going to catch hell for it if the librarian came over.
He tilted his head at her. “You can’t tell me that you like being like this all the time. Have some fun for a change! I mean…go on a date for merlin’s sake. Have you seen the way guys look at you, me included? You just always have your pretty little face buried in books…” He sighed softly like it was one of the saddest things he'd ever heard of. [style=width:400px; height:200px; background:url(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8kap3zEKm1rsl2pso2_500.jpg);] nicole got complimented from time to time, but it was never by guys, and she never believed it. she hardly wore makeup, and even when she did it wasn't much; she usually just let her hair do it's own thing, though she had never had a bad hair day in her life; and she had never had a real relationship, because she was always so focused on school that she figured if she started dating someone, that her parents would be disappointed that she wasn't giving school her all and even more so that they wouldn't approve of who she dated, whoever that person turned out to be. so, she swore she wouldn't get into a relationship until after hogwarts. and even then she was sure she'd find some reason not to. she wanted kids, but conversations with guys always made her extremely nervous, no matter how easily she could act as if she was the most confident girl on earth.
a blush crept up on her cheeks when nicholas pushed some of her hair out of her face, and she blinked. her smile was nervous, no matter how hard she tried to pretend like she was used to the attention. the way that she saw it, boys didn't even know she existed, and if they did, she didn't notice. then again, she never really took the time to admire her surroundings. the urge to grab her book that nicholas had closed and pushed away tugged at the back of her mind, but she sighed softly in defeat. "you won't give up until i say that i'll come with, will you?" she'd observed nicholas a few times, and he tended not to give up from what she'd seen. she wrinkled her nose at his foot on the table, but tried not to scold him for it. instead, she looked up to his face. she furrowed her eyebrows together, wanting to admit that she'd never been on a real date, but she didn't say that. "sure i have. they look at me like i'm a troll, or a goody-two-shoes that will rat on them if they do anything around me that's remotely against the rules." she shrugged lightly, reaching to pile all of her books together and roll up her parchments. she wasn't going to leave her things like a mess if she wasn't going to be studying. [atrb=border,0,true][style=background-image:url(http://i45.tinypic.com/2vvrs60.gif); width: 400px; height: 200px; margin-right:8px;] Nicholas chuckled and shook his head. “No of course not. I’m a stubborn Ravenclaw. We do not give up into the job is done.” He grinned at her and motioned to her books that she had been working on as if to prove his point. That was the one thing about his house. Once they set out to do something they got it done. But from the looks of it, he couldn’t allow it this time. She was going to kill herself or any chance of a life if she didn’t stop burying her face in books the way that she did. At least most of the other Ravenclaws got out of the castle once in a while to make complete and utter fools of them to relax. He had basically made a job out of it.
“You mean to tell me you’re not a goody-two-shoes!? And here I’ve been utterly horrified to ask you on a date for that very reason!” Nicky gave her a warm smile and a light nudge before he rolled his eyes at her, watching her straighten her stuff. He picked up a few of the books and stacked them neatly for her before he opened his hands, palms out. “Come along Miss Nicole or I shall pick you up and throw you over my shoulder. Seriously…you need some fun even if its just me dragging you to finger paint on something.” His eyes were focused on hers like he was trying to read whether or not he was actually getting through to her. He didn’t always drag people out of the common rooms, but the ones that looked like they could use a bit of fun, he certainly did. And though Nicole had been hiding in the Library, it wouldn’t stop him from slinging her over his shoulder and dragging her out.
Nicholas slid down from the table and tilted his head at her. “Your choice…walk or be carried.” He grinned at her as he offered though he was obvious he meant business.

[style=width:400px; height:200px; background:url(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8kap3zEKm1rsl2pso2_500.jpg);] nicole looked at her books, completely understanding. she sometimes felt like she was the most stubborn of them all, because once she started something she never gave up. though, hers was more of a nagging of guilt, rather than stubbornness. she wouldn't tell anyone that, though. if people knew about her insecurities, they would have a reason to look down on her, or give her pity, and she didn't want either of those occuring, no matter the situation. a small smile couldn't hold itself back anymore. nicole shook her head lightly before shrugging. "i don't know, i suppose i am, now that i think about it." she avoided the fact that he had just said he had avoided asking her on a date, because the thought of any guy, even a year younger, would want to ask her on a date was just unfathomable.
nicole grabbed one of his hands and stood, but not before staring at her books for a few more seconds. she'd get her essay done later that night, or she wouldn't be able to sleep. she dropped his hand as soon as she had pulled herself to her feet, and laughed nervously. "i think i'll pass on being carried, even if it would mean less work." nicole was terrified inside, but she wasn't about to give nicholas a reason to mock her, so she didn't let it show. nicole pulled her wand out and flicked it at the books, mumbling a soft charm and sending them all into her bag neatly, before grabbing her bag. "alright, then, if i must.. i suppose i'm ready to go." she smiled softly, confidently. on the inside, she felt anything but. [/style]
