for the past few days, zach had been getting weird looks from just about everyone, especially whenever he entered the hufflepuff common room. he wasn't quite sure why, but it was starting to give him the creeps. zach had gotten a letter from his mother asking how his heart was doing, and it had confused the hell out of him. so, he just told her he was doing fine, and that he was thinking about talking to the quidditch team captain about a late entry onto the team. zach had always had a love for the sport, but he had quit the team third year. he couldn't remember why for the life of him, he'd been one of the team's most valuable players, and then he just up and quit. now that he thought of it, most of third year all the way up until recently, there was a lot of missing pieces. zach brushed it off, though, not having a care in the world as to why he felt how he felt. because honestly, he had never felt better.
after finishing writing his letter, zach headed for the owlery. he scratched the back of his neck as he entered, sitting down on the bench that was covered in feathers. "emmy," he called to his owl, whom his mother had named. the owl obediently flew down and perched herself on his arm that he held out for her. "there you are, beautiful." zach pet her a few times, looking out the window at the starry night. "take this to the post office, alright." he held the envelope out and watched as emmy grabbed it and flew off in the direction of the post office in hogsmeade. he sighed lightly and stepped outside of the owlery, sitting down on the top step. the cool breeze triggered a sense of longing inside of him, but zach quickly brushed it off just like all of the blurs in his memory. he looked up at the starry night sky and let out a soft sigh. it was always times like this that made him wish he had a girlfriend, or even just a friend to share it with.
