Darius worked crazy hours at St. Mungo's, his hours would change from day to day and sometimes he worked twelve hours straight. Working at Hospital wasn't easy, but he wouldn't change his job for anything. Being a healer had been his dream job since he was younger and despite how demanding it was he loved it. Today hadn't been too bad, he'd gone in at noon and had just gotten out at ten. He didn't find himself very tired, he was use to work much later or working longer days than today. While he wasn't ready for bed he was eager to head home, eager to spend some time at his flat and just relax a bit.
Taking the stairs of his apartment building, he reached his floor and stepped into the hall. He hated muggle elevators and refused to take them, even if he was muggle born after spending time in the wizarding world he didn't see certain muggle things as being as safe as he had before he knew magic. Dar slipped his keys out of his pocket, opening the door to his flat and stepping inside, shutting it behind him. He had no idea if Emerson was sleeping or even home, she often did her own thing since he could never be sure when he'd be coming home for the day. That was something he liked about their relationship though, that she was independent and would do her own thing, she wasn't reliant on him. It made him feel like he wasn't being smothered in their relationship, he didn't feel like he was stuck with her, he wanted to be here with her. This was why he'd asked her to marry him, although they hadn't started planning just yet he was feeling pretty good about it. He had no idea that once it started becoming more real he just might start to realize the big commitment he was making.
Taking off his jacket he slung it over the back of the kitchen chair, moving to open the fridge, figuring if she was home and awake she'd probably hear him rummaging around in the kitchen.
