The prettiest in crowd that you had ever seen Ribbons in our hair and our eyes gleamed mean A freshmen generation of degenerate beauty queens And you know something? It had been a long day of dance, classes, and homework, and Allena was ready to relax. Actually, she was ready to commune with her one and only sister, though she wasn't sure if she'd made it expressly clear to her last time they'd spoken. Then again, clarity wasn't exactly her strong point, and she always felt a bit like a snob for speaking French in a school populated with non-French speakers. It was good for secrets, but when you spoke in French around all the Britons, they suddenly automatically assumed you were talking shit about them and caused even more disdain than was warrented.
Just before dinner ended Allena left the Great Hall, determined to catch her sister as she returned to the common room. Allena could only hope that Elodie hadn't made any alternate plans, although there wasn't really anything from stopping her from doing such. At this point Allena didn't really have too much else on her plate, however, so she figured she might as well just wait up for her sister.
As per usual she had herself holed up on her favorite couch next to the fire, a small throw blanket covering her feet and lap and a book in hand. Minot, her stunted kitten, was sleeping on her lap, although he was growing increasingly irritated with her forgetfulness. More than once she'd dropped the book into her lap in exasperation, only to feel Minot's itty bitty claws digging into her thigh in discontent. She felt badly each time she did it, and had to devote several minutes to winning his favor back so that he wouldn't take out a personal vendetta against her and her belongings.
Eventually she gave up on the book, which was a dreadful way for her to practice her English language comprehension anyway, and flipped her little kitty onto his back, holding him in the crook of one of her arms. She rubbed his belly until he relaxed and began purring, and she smiled, stroking under his chin absentmindedly. It was lovely that Hogwarts allowed pets, she decided, although she was more than a little bit upset about the fact that they didn't allow dogs. She missed her little Papillion, who was currently living with her mother in France. But he was happiest there anyway, and unlike herself, he had a wonderful relationship with the eldest Delarue lady.
Sighing and wishing she'd brought up a cup of tea, Allena resigned herself to waiting patiently for her sister, should she happen to show up. If not, of course, she'd simply find someone else to occupy her time, though that arrangement would be less than ideal.

Elodie had always been the quiet one of her year. No-one really knew her secrets that she kept locked up in the back of her mind. Nor would they ever know, unless her smile brought them all out at the same time and allowed her thoughts to run free and wild around her like a cloud of black smoke. Elodie was someone who if you knew her secrets, you wouldn't want to know her. Inside her mind slept a dark, sinister dragon which every now and again wanted to run free from her mind and engulf the pretty students which lined the Hogwarts walls. The only thing that wasn't dark and sinister about her mind, however, was the fact that she didn't understand why Pure-Bloods couldn't fall in love with half-bloods or muggleborns.
The young woman had never had a boyfriend, as her sister as well as parents enjoyed making it perfectly clear that she had to find a pure-blooded boy to fall in love for. However, all the pure-bloods that took an interest in her were in Slytherin, and none were what Elodie wanted in a boyfriend. Thus, she had never had one. Sure, she had been kissed a few times, yet they were hollow kisses that only ended in her cursing under her breath in French and walking away from the male.
Leaving the Great Hall, Elodie made her way slowly down the corridors of Hogwarts and glared at a few of the students whom thought it amusing to make fun of her in some way. If only you knew what I could do to you... The young woman had thought, smirking before turning a corner to make her way towards the Slytherin Common Rooms. She had to meet her older sister somewhere... But where, she couldn't remember. Plucking her wand from her pocket, Elodie gripped it tightly and clutched it to her chest as she walked through the corridor towards the Dungeons.
Whispering the password, the young Delarue woman stepped through the opening and scanned the Common Room for her older sibling. Upon seeing her face, Elodie smiled slightly and made her way over towards the fire. "Bonsoir, chère sœur."
Translate: Good evening, sister dear.

The prettiest in crowd that you had ever seen Ribbons in our hair and our eyes gleamed mean A freshmen generation of degenerate beauty queens And you know something? Allena glanced up when she heard her sister’s familiar voice, glad that she’d actually decided to show up. She’d expected, at this point, for her not to come, and was even a little bit irritated when she did show up. Upon realizing this she felt immediately guilty, but at the same time couldn’t take it back. Having something to bicker over was always more interesting than having nothing to talk about, and her feelings of irritation needed an outlet somewhere.
But she did not want this to be that kind of conversation, and so she tried to push the feelings of irritation away. ”Bon soir, Elodie,” she said, a bit of forced cheer in her voice. There was nothing wrong—there really couldn’t be anything wrong, what did she have to complain about? Save the lack of boyfriend (and the frustrating male friend that was on her mind lately), the body aches, the perpetually broken toe, the spots she could feel on her back from not changing out of her leotard quickly enough, the totally mundane nature of life at this school?
When she thought about it, she realized that she really didn’t have much to be happy about, save for the little kitty in her lap and the progress she thought she was making with dance. It was difficult to tell, with few people for her to compare herself to, but she had to be improving with all her practice. She alternated between being in a state of confidence and being in a state of anxious panic over her progress with dance, and the less she tried to think about it, the more it was on her mind.
Maybe that was why she didn’t have a boyfriend.
Allena pulled her blanket aside, folding it doubly over her lap. Patting the seat next to her she smiled, motioning with her head. ”Sit,” she said, more of a command than a suggestion. ”It ‘as been too long. Ve are in zee same ‘ouse—‘ow is it so zat ve do not converse more? I ‘ave spoken to more ‘ufflepuffs zan I ‘ave to you recently, and zat is saying somet’ing.”
More than anything, however, Allena was glad that she had her sister with her at Hogwarts. After her parents split, Allena feared that she would never see Elodie; transferring from Beauxbatons to Hogwarts was, as a result, her most difficult decision, but she was happy that it did not interfere with her relationship with her sister. If anything the switch strengthened it, and gave Allena confidence in their sororital solidarity. ”So zen tell me, ‘ow are your days? You ‘ave been vell?”
