[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]nicole was so much different inside than out. on the outside she was the perfect daughter: confident, intelligent, going far in life; on the inside she was a total mess of insecurities and worry. every little thing that nicole did, she worried that somehow it would make people think less of her or it would cause a huge downfall to her future and she would end up some homeless, lonely, nobody. because of these thoughts, nicole had never done anything completely crazy. she had never skipped class or gone on some odd adventure to explore to castle; she had never snuck out; she had never even gone so far as to ask someone about a homework question because she thought it would be considered cheating and it would get back to the teacher. she was a hopeless cause, internally, so it seemed. nicole had never once told anyone about her insecurities, though, because she figured if anyone knew they would think less of her. not even her best friends knew about how she felt about herself.
there wasn't much time left before class started, and nicole watched as everyone rushed off to their perspective classrooms. she was sitting right outside of her's, watching one boy in particular. she was friends with his twin brother, julian, but from what she had observed the two were nothing like each other. they were even in separate houses, and when she thought of it, she remembered that ryder rose was a slytherin. it should have come to no surprise that he wasn't heading to any class, but it still set a lump in her throat. she stood up and started heading his way. you're going to get in trouble, you know. for skipping class. nicole always felt as if it was her personal duty to at least attempt to get people to go to class. in the end, it wasn't her problem if they got in trouble or not. she just took the opportunity to try and help out. not that anyone had ever actually gone to class after she warned them about skipping, but it was always worth a shot. tag: mr. ryder rose~ word count: 357 notes: tadaaa. |

chasing the sun ALL THAT COUNTS, IS HERE AND NOW.
[/style][style=background-color: eaeaea; font-family: arial; line-height: 99%; width: 310px; padding: 10px; border-right: 40px solid #39133c; text-align: justify;]the thing with ryder was, everyone had expected him to be like his siblings, they'd wanted him to act like all the others and be your typical rose. he wasn't though, his grades were not the same as the others, there was nothing about him that made him the same. he was the let down of the family, and he'd been reminded of that on many occasions. so it was no surprise that the young slytherin boy had decided to act out against his peers. his brother was the one who went to class, and got top grades, he liked to follow the rules and do everything as he was told, ryder on the other hand, tended to wander. classes bored him, unless they were hands on, or something along the lines of care of magical creatures, or herbology. something where he could get his hands dirty. he mainly enjoyed being out doors, he liked the sun, and the grass, he loved the smell of the dirt, and he loved the way the wind blew through his short blonde hair. today was no different, he'd spent the morning getting dressed, lazily of course, he hadn't even wanted to drag himself out of the warm bed in his dorm, so he'd taken his time, making sure he was late to heading out. breakfast, he hung back as well, shoveling an assortment of food into his mouth, and thoroughly enjoying each and every mouthful he was lucky enough to get.
instead of making his way directly towards the classroom, he decided that he wanted to grab another book from his dorm, he wasn't particularly enjoying the crowd of students who were making their way to the classroom, seemingly eager to get there and get into their studies. he wasn't dumb, by any means, he just wasn't able to apply himself like others were. a frown creased his brow, as he grabbed a book from his bed and headed back towards the classroom, watching the line of students file inside. it would be easy to just walk off now, take himself outside and into the sun, away from all of this. but the only thing that was standing in his way was that girl nicole, who was now walking towards him as though she had a purpose. i don't really care. he told her, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jacket. if i get in trouble, then so be it. but i don't care. that class is boring, and i don't think i can possibly sit through another hour of it he shook his head slowly. it was set then, he was definitely going to skip now.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]expectations were something that nicole knew all too well. unfortunately for her, though, they were something she didn't know how to just ignore. her younger sister made it seem so easy to just live life and not worry about the constant pressure to be perfect. then again, her younger sister was an angry girl who just didn't seem to care about what anyone had to say to or about her. nicole liked being nice, and she liked making people proud of her, but sometimes it was all too much. she was always so tempted to just tell people shove it and go be herself, but now that she thought about it she didn't really know who herself was. she was the girl behind a mask, and the girl that nobody knew inside of her was someone she didn't like being. she didn't like being in a constant panic, but that was how she was.
she didn't understand how people could simply not care, like ryder in that very moment. she blinked, pursing her lips and furrowing her eyebrows, a little confused. she lowered her arms to hold her books at her side, looking down at the ground. she took a moment before standing up straight, feigning confidence. so you'd rather sit through an hour of detention having to do makeup work for said class? it just.. that doesn't make any sense, whatsoever. nicole ran a hand through her long, wavy hair, tucking a bit of it behind her ear. what's so great about skipping class, anyway? is there really that much to do around here that won't get you into trouble? nicole looked down at her books, honestly curious about what ryder would say to that. tag: mr. ryder rose~ word count: --- notes: tadaaa. |

theres a great big world out there, beyond those castle doors, beyond the gates. theres adventure and mystery, and things far more interesting than you can find in a book. instead, you're learning about them first hand. you're feeling them, touching them, living them.. you can't get that experience out of a book. thats why i go out there. he told her. and if you don't mind, i'll be headed back out there right now. he picked up his bag which had conveniently slipped down his arm and too the floor, he turned on his heel, and started down the narrow hallway away from her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]nicole wished she had the guts to do something, anything, that wasn't expected of her. she would love just once to do something without feeling guilty. like if she went one day without doing her homework, or even just put it off until right before bed. she didn't know how to actually live life to the fullest, because nobody had ever taught her how to. her parents pushed her towards perfection without actually pushing her. they put her in music lessons, they always asked about schooling, who her friends were and who she didn't really like. they really did care a lot, but nicole tended to think of it as them just checking to make sure that she was still the perfect little girl that they had raised. and yet thalia got away with skipping classes, not making the best marks, and talking back to her. the two didn't even eat dinner in the same room at their home.
nicole furrowed her eyebrows together, trying to understand. it wasn't like ryder was speaking in a foreign tongue, or talking about something totally complicated like rocket science, but nicol just couldn't grasp the concept. she loved learning hands on, rather than in books, but she had never thought that skipping class could ever teach her more than a teacher could. looking back at her classroom, just to make sure class hadn't started, nicole then turned back to see ryder walking away. she quickly jogged to catch up with him, her voice dropping a volume level. you really mean it? about learning stuff out there? her brown eyes had lit up, more curious than ever now. tag: mr. ryder rose~ word count: total fail notes: tadaaa. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]nicole had never been truly mean to anyone besides her sister in her life, but she knew that ryder didn't like her because she nagged him about getting in trouble at least once a day, or even once every couple of days. she had never thought of the fact that outside the castle could be a whole new learning experience because she had never even thought of skipping class before. she figured that the only way she would ever be able to was if she had an invisibility cloak, and that just was not going to happen for nicole. so, she stuck to being a goody-two-shoes, and avoided any risk of disappointing others. she chewed on her lip a little bit as she followed ryder, pulling her bag toward her front and stuffing her two books that she had been holding for her class into it. she had a chance to run back to class and apologize that she was late, but for whatever reason she felt like she had to prove to ryder that she wasn't just some goody goody that only knew how to follow the rules. the thought of detention nagged at the back of her mind, but she put it on mute. no, i've never had detention but.. that's why i just don't get caught, right? isn't that the whole point of skipping, is to not get caught? nicole was never one to ask a lot of questions, afraid it would make her sound stupid, but she had calmed her mind enough that it was simply panicking in the very back, her conscience telling her to just go back to class. scream? unusual? nicole nodded anyway, pursing her lips for just a moment. alright, i promise. as long as you don't ditch me.. her voice trailed off, nervous of even talking much in the halls in case someone heard. this whole thing was new and exciting, but nerve-wracking. tag: mr. ryder rose~ word count: 322 notes: tadaaa. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]nicole sometimes wondered where her insecurities and all of the high expectations came from. she regretted doing so well in school and always doing her chores when asked to as a little girl, sometimes. it gave everyone a reason to expect nothing but the best out of her. out of the seven years she had been at hogwarts, she had only missed class twice, and that was because she had ended up in the hospital wing. that's why skipping class was so terrifying. the people in her class would probably be relieved that she wasn't there acting like she knew everything, but her teacher would be very concerned when she went to class the next day. if she wasn't practically on her death bed, nicole was in class. it was something she should have been proud of in herself, but she always felt as if it was a mistake for her to not have a rebelious phase. every teenager went through it eventually, and nicole never had. nicole didn't take offense to ryder's comment, because it was true. i've missed class before.. she mumbled it, though, knowing he was completely right. the reassurance that he wouldn't ditch her made her feel a little better, but the weight on her chest of worry was still slightly there. she stopped, but only momentarily. nicole quickly picked up her pace to catch up with him down the slope, licking at her lips nervously. uh.. the forest. yeah, i've totally been in there before. it was a total lie, but nicole wasn't about to admit that she had never been into the forest before. it was bad enough that she was being a burden by bringing herself along for what was probably usually ryder's time to himself. she just wanted to know for once what it was like to live a little bit. nicole had never given it a chance before, and she figured that now was just as good a time as any. tag: mr. ryder rose~ word count: 330 notes: tadaaa. |
