[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] MAYBE IT'S NOT MY WEEKEND BUT IT'S GOING TO BE MY YEAR : the muggle world was a rather baffling place, today lucas had to use something that they called a 'tube' it was some mechanical beast that travelled underground, it was confusing and lucas had ended up in the wrong place more than once today. finally though he'd managed to get off at the correct stop, if only the ministry had allowed for him to apparate then he would have gotten here in less than half the time it had originally taken him. instead they had banned aparating in heavily muggle populated zones incase they were to see you, it was all rather ridiculous if you asked lucas, but he followed the ministry rules. as he stepped out onto the stone pavement, finally emerging into the sunlight after being stuck underground for the last hour, lucas slipped on a pair of what muggles called sunglasses to stop the bright sunshine hurting his eyes. another part of his job that he was still getting use to was having to wear muggle attire, it was all rather odd stuff, such as today he was wearing a cardigan a word that had amused him greatly when he first heard it. obviously now though with his job as an obliviator and collecting hexed items format he muggle world, lucas had learnt to become more accustomed to the strange way that muggles went about things.
his family being a pure-blood wizarding line had never had contact with the muggle world and yes lucas had a few old friends from hogwarts that had muggle families, but until he joined the ministry he'd never really step foot outside of the wizarding community. it was easy to say though his parent shad been most baffled by his choice to work in the muggle related fields, they had expected him to an aurora or perhaps an unspeakable. both things he'd considered but when he'd read about this opening in the muggle related department, lucas had just been drawn to it right away. so far he'd been working the job for a few years now and well it did still surprise him the things that he was being sent off to sort out, today he had to go to some womans apartment and remove a hexed microwave that was apparently sending out colourful sparks and at times talking. lucas really had to wander who these things got into muggle homes, usually troublesome wizards or witches trying to pull practical jokes. walking down the street, lucas found the building he was looking for and managed to slip inside as someone else opened the door. thankfully he would not have to figure out the strange keyboard contraption that was meant to let you in.
with a light tap on the door of apartment 4, lucas waited patiently as he heard someone moving about inside. a few moments later and the door was opened and a small woman with mousey brown hair and pale green eyes stood staring at him, a look of confusion on her face. "Hello madam, im the new landlord here and i just wanted to check everything was okay in your apartment" lucas spoke politely giving her a reassuring smile as she stepped aside and let him in. his blue eyes surveyed the small apartment and spotted the kitchen off to the left and made his way toward it. sure enough he could see the microwave was hexed with magic, dials were whirring and it seemed to be beeping every second. "you could take that damn thing away! been driving me mad!" he heard the womanise voice say from where she'd sat back down on the tatty couch. Pulling his wand out from his sleeve, lucas pointed it at the microwave and muttered the spell under his breath to silence the microwave for now. then he turned his attention to the woman, who luckily was sat with her back to him, he raised his wand "obliviate" he said clearly this time his wand pointed directly at the woman. no sooner had lucas said the spell when another voice entered the flat, calling out for who he assumed was the other woman. turning his head he found himself staring right at another muggle, who he recognised right away as the pretty blonde that he had met a few times and slipped up on keeping his identity secret, causing for him to have fiddled with her memory too. "damn merlin's beard" lucas muttered knowing this was a bad situation. bite my tongue , daisy had spent far to long in this dreary city, whether it was the weather, or the way everything seemed to be packed in tight. london had always made her feel so sleepy, the issue was - she lived there. she'd spent her life in england, and after managing to get a position in the newspaper of her choice, she'd relocated to the city, where she could focus on fulfilling her dreams as a writer. the days were long, and she spent most of her nights typing up news articles to submit for the sunday paper. while her articles had started off as simple pieces, she'd finally gotten the opportunity to write some really deep, and meaningful pieces as of late. which was partly the reason she was headed over to her friends house that day. she was holding onto a file under her arm, and a satchel sat around her waist as she left her apartment. her short pixie styled cut hair was a little bit of a mess, her makeup was clean, and she hadn't really decided to dress up. donning a simple, knee length sleeveless, dark blue summer dress, and a pair of black flats on her feet she started on her way down the streets. the sun was high, and being that it was mid september, the heat was still lingering in the air. it was pleasant though, nothing overly uncomfortable for her, but something that she felt she could really relax in if she'd decided to. after a stop at a corner store on the way, she swung the bag of groceries as she stepped, smiling at a few passers by in the most friendly manner she could muster, before she finally started down her friends street.
she'd know this woman since she'd started working for the telegraph, and at one point had even found themselves as room mates, when neither of them were able to afford their own apartments in the city. it wasn't cheap, living here in the center of it all, london was one of the biggest cities in the world, and for that reason prices seemed to hike up higher on houses. today though, money was the last thign on her mind - unless it was her thinking about the pay cheque she was going to get for the piece she'd submitted to the paper the previous day. the apartment block was always a busy spot, people were coming and going frequently, but for that day, it was decently quiet around the doors. she'd put in the code and swung the door open, heading into the hall and started up the stairs to the floor her friend was located. the apartment, like hers, was small but it held their own personal style. neither spent much time in their places, they were usually too busy at the office to really find time to spend at their houses, today however, being their days off it was the only time she really had to show her the work, and get away from the apartment she rarely spent any time at anyway. home to her, was back with her parents, her shoe box apartment was too cluttered, and small for her liking, and she found herself needing to get out of there more often than not.
pushing open the door, she set the bags aside, setting her folder on the side table i'm here! did you get that movie i told you to grab? i bought us some lunch from the market, i hope you're hungry she started making her way through the hall, and that was when she saw him. stick in hand, pointed directly at her friend, and the light that flowed from it was just the icing on the cake. lucas? she stared at him, her jaw dropped what the hell are you doing? are you threatening her? she quickly rushed over to her friend and grasped her hand are you okay? did he hurt you? pushing back to her feet, she smoothed her dress over her legs and marched her way over to him, reaching to pluck the stick from his hands she threw it on the ground. what is this? what are you even doing here? it was definitely not a place she'd expect to find him, they'd met before, and gone out to coffee once as well. but what was he doing here in her friends apartment?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] MAYBE IT'S NOT MY WEEKEND BUT IT'S GOING TO BE MY YEAR : when he had started at this job, lucas had been amazed at how often the wizarding world and the muggle world collided and caused for memory modifying and removal of objects to be done. really everyday there seemed to be a possible risk that the muggles would find out about a world that was suppose to be secret from them. just the other week lucas had to go and change a fourteen year olds memory because one of the ministry workers that had lived nearby had accidentally set lose a pack of gnomes into the muggles garden. it was all really a very touch and go situation, keeping the muggles oblivious to the world of magic that was around them. thankfully though it seemed rare that anything to terribly bad had happened in the last few years, not like when you-know-who was about and everyday the risk had been so high that muggles would find out. lucas did enjoy his job and the challenges that it gave him, though chasing gnomes probably was not a high light of the job. there had been lots of discussions within the ministry lately though with people opposing how regularly muggles minds were fiddled with, but lucas thought those wizards crazy, there was no way they could stop doing it and still remain hidden. today though was to be straight forward or at least that was what he had thought but as lucas stood there in the apartment, he hadn't noticed the door had been left open until someone else had joined them in the apartment.
oh well done lucas, how the heck are you going to be getting yourself out of this one, he thought to himself as he bright blue eyes had come to rest on daisy, a muggle woman that he'd seemed to run into rather a lot when he was in the city. more than one he'd also had to modify her memory slightly because of his slip ups, saying things like 'muggle' and 'the ministry' it was all rather baffling to him that around her he seemed to just slip up left right and centre. now for what must have been the fourth or fifth time he found himself in a rather awkward position with the young blonde woman. really it couldn't have been any worse, stood there with his wand out right in the middle of a spell it was a very compromising position for him to be in and not one he was entirely sure what to do about. soon though he was pulled back from his own thoughts and back to reality as daisy started talking at him, demanding to know in what merlin's beard he was doing. "uh.. daisy.." he stumbled over his words, quickly lowering his wand as she accused him of trying to threaten the other woman. "no, not at all! quite the opposite, i was just helping her with something! i mean well i needed her to forget that i was here and about the hexed microwave.." oh damn it, there he'd gone again putting his foot in his mouth and spluttering out everything he should not have been saying. "i mean her microwave was broken so i fixed it, that was all!" trying to dig himself out of this one was going to be very interesting. "honestly she's fine, i promise it was nothing that is going to hurt her. at most she'll just be a bit groggy, probably thing it's monday instead of thursday" lucas took a step back, running a hand through his hair, trying to figure out a way to make this better. "well im here on business, sort of. really i cant tell you anything daisy, i've said far too much already" he sighed with exasperation, a simple job had now become as hard as a triwizard tournament challenge. bite my tongue , she could remember lucas from a few different occasions, although he always seemed far more familiar to her than just a simple coffee date. she couldn't say much about it though, because she really had only gone out with him for coffee the one time. now though, confronted with him here of all places, he seemed just as flustered as she was. she couldn't understand why he would even be here. but when she came to think of it, she didn't even really know what he did for a job, so yeah, maybe he was an electrician or something. it seemed highly unlikely though. she couldn't really remember a lot about him. it seemed odd, mainly because she was sure they'd talked about quite a lot when they'd gone for coffee that night, so why were things seeming blank to her now. i dont even understand... wait, hex? she was rubbing her temples in frustration, and quickly reached for his arm to tug him out of the room and into the kitchen instead. you really need to tell me whats going on right now, because i hardly believe you came just to fix her microwave. what is it you do, anyway? because i really can't remember all that much about you. that was probably the most frustrating thing she could think of, she felt like there was a black area in her mind, something was missing and completely foggy. and try as she might, she really couldn't put her finger on what it was. but the word hex seemed to jolt something for her.
she'd lived in this city long enough to know there were definitely some weirdos out there, and maybe lucas was one of them. there were wierdos everywhere in the world that, that seemed to be the main thing. it would have been just her luck to run into him though, and experience this new kind of weird. she might have had her own quirks, but her life had been relatively normal compared to most. she still had both of her parents, who were both happily married, she had a younger brother and an older sister, who were pretty much her life and saviour most of the time. she'd had a few steady relationships, but her job was more important to her at this point in time. she was making her dreams, and aspirations come true now, so she had no need to really settle down. she would have kids when she met the right person, but until then, her job was her number one priority. she'd been to university and had completed her degree in journalism, and after completeting an internship, she'd been lucky enough to land the job of her dreams. perhaps it was how normal she seemed to be, that attracted the weird ones into her life. look, i really don't know what you're doing here, or why you're bothering my friend but you need to cut it out. you always seem to pop up at the wrong times, and i'm pretty sure your job changes every time i see you - and then you tell me i'm not allowed to know what you do, but you make me ask questions because of how ridiculous you are. so how about a little honesty? she paused, straighening the skirt of her dress as she gazed at him we might be virtual strangers, but if you're going to keep popping up then i think i deserve some answers and with that, the stubborn lady poised her hands on her hips, and stared up at him with a defiant stare.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] MAYBE IT'S NOT MY WEEKEND BUT IT'S GOING TO BE MY YEAR : why daisy seemed to keep appearing nearly everywhere that he went lucas really was not at all sure. normally when he had worked over the years, it was rare for him to see a muggle more than twice at a push but with daisy she just seemed to find him, like there was a magnetic pull and they just ended up in the same place. it had even gotten to the point were lucas had accepted an invitation for coffee, but well at the end of that lucas had explained him being a wizard, hogwarts, the ministry of magic and so much more, that well before he'd left lucas'd had to modify her memory and leave her with only bits and pieces of the normal conversation that they'd had. "yes a hex.. well no a faulty wires actually" oh nice one lucas, try and at least keep up with your own lies of what you were doing here. lucas allowed for himself to be pulled away into the kitchen, really the friend was far too dazed right then to know what was going on, but the less she heard the better. "really, i was simply here to fix the microwave for her that was all" really lucas knew he must have sounded so terribly unconvincing. "im an electrical guy" lucas answered in response to daisy's question. "or whatever you muggles may call it" he mumbled, unsure if he had used the correct term at all for it.
a slight frown appeared on lucas's face as daisy demanded that he be honest with her. really if she'd known him in the wizarding world, then daisy would've known that lucas was probably one of the most honest guys you'd meet, but obviously that couldn't transfer into the muggle world. here he had to lie and dodge the awkward questions and wipe people's memories so they would never remember that he was even there. now though he found himself stuck, lucas knew that his job required him to wipe the memory of any and all muggles that happened to see him, but when it came to daisy he seemed to feel this odd sensation of just wanting to spill all the secrets too her. it was enough to confuse the best wizard when you stumble across a muggle that is so fascinating and you cant just tell them who and what you are. "look daisy, really i want to be honest with you.. but i don't think i can explain to you the risks that come with it" a sigh escaped through his lips as he nervously ran a hand through his messy blonde hair. "see, what i do it's very secret and by law.. im not really even suppose to talk to you this much" the frustration was just getting worse and worse now, how was he suppose to just wipe her memory all over again, it was a well known fact that if it was done too much the person could go a little loopy, to use the polite term. "okay, i suppose i owe you some sort of truth" lucas rubbed the back of his neck, leaning against the kitchen counter. "not that you'll believe me" he muttered to himself, before bringing his eyes up to look over at her. "i'm a wizard and i work for the ministry of magic, dealing with situations that threaten to reveal us to muggles. your friend here purchased a hexed microwave so i had to come and take it away, whilst also modifying your friends memory of it all" after he'd said it, lucas finally felt like their was a weight of his shoulders, though he knew whatever was to come next would be hard to deal with. so he braced himself for daisy's response.
